Radio Liberty reported on April 12 that at least 27 air defense crews were stationed near Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Valdai, Novgorod region.

Russian authorities claimed that Ukraine tried to attack Putin’s residence in Valdai using drones in December 2025. Moscow provided no evidence. In Kiev, they denied this and said that they were against attacks on political centers and places where the leaders of the warring countries were present. The United States believes that Ukraine did not attempt to attack the headquarters.
