74% of Donetsk residents work for money and 32% – for self-development :: News

The research service of, the largest online recruitment platform in Russia, found in a survey that the meaning of work for 78% of Russians is to earn money. In the Rostov region, 74% of respondents agreed.

Another 40% of Russians say work is their favorite activity, and 41% of Donetsk residents also spoke about it. Most often, those who have been in their current workplace for less than a year (41%) and applicants aged 18 to 24 (44%) were most likely to answer this way. In addition, there were more women who named their professional activity as their favorite activity than men – 42% and 37% respectively.

Another 49% of respondents in the Rostov region said that the meaning of work for them lies in the possibility of self-realization, 32% work for self-development, 26% see the meaning of professional activity in gaining experience, 20% in communication , 18% work for recognition and respect for others, and 17% for building a career.

By the way, in terms of federal districts, the Southern Federal District turned out to be the least of those who work for the sake of money – 76%, and the North Caucasus Federal District became the leader in the number of such answers – here 91% of respondents noticed this fact.

Interestingly, most of those for whom the meaning of work is money were representatives of top management (85%), in accounting and management accounting (83%), purchasing, sales and law (each 81%).

The share of those for whom work is their favorite activity is highest in marketing, advertising and PR (50%), arts, entertainment and mass media, as well as tourism and hospitality (49% each).

For the sake of communication, HR specialists work more often than others (21%), workers work more often to gain experience (46%), specialists in production and agriculture work more than others to build careers (30%), on behalf of Recognition and respect from others work most doctors and pharmacists (26%), those for whom the meaning of work is the possibility of self-development, predominate among employees in science and education (57%).
