Vladimir Zelensky said that a new round of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and the United States, which was scheduled to take place this week, was postponed at the initiative of the American side.
The President of Ukraine wrote on his Telegram channel: “Now the priority of partners and all attention is the situation surrounding Iran.”
Zelensky stressed that “Ukraine is ready to hold a meeting at any time in a format that can help and be realistic from the point of view of ending the war.”
The President of Ukraine also stated that “the Russians are now trying to manipulate the situation in the Middle East” and “turn the Iranian regime’s attacks on its neighbors and in effect American bases into the second front of the Russian war against Ukraine and, more broadly, the entire West.” “This certainly cannot be allowed,” Zelensky stressed.
Ukraine, Russia, and the United States have held several rounds of trilateral negotiations since the beginning of 2026. In January and early February, delegations met in Abu Dhabi, and then negotiations took place in mid-February in Geneva. The next round of negotiations was scheduled for early March in Abu Dhabi. After the start of the war between the United States and Israel with Iran, Zelensky said that the meeting was postponed, but not cancelled.
