American journalist Tucker Carlson said that the CIA has begun a review of his activities and is considering the possibility of filing a criminal case.
According to him, the reason was the contacts with Iranian representatives that took place before the start of the current military conflict, as well as his critical stance towards Israel, which, he claimed, displeased some intelligence officers.
“I am not particularly concerned about the actual criminal case against me for a number of reasons,” Carlson said in a video he posted on his YouTube channel. “First, I am not an agent of a foreign power… My only loyalty is to the United States, and I have never acted against it.”
According to Carlson, the real purpose of the potential prosecution is not a trial, but an attempt to intimidate and discredit him. He said that such cases could be exploited to leak information to the media and put pressure on those involved in the investigations.
The journalist also expressed the opinion that US intelligence services often use criminal cases as a reason to spy on government critics. According to him, during times of war, countries become less tolerant of the opposition, which, he says, leads to increased pressure on opponents.
Carlson also believes that the military conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel could develop into a global religious confrontation. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Tucker Carlson was expelled from the “Make America Great Again” movement because he “lost his way” and criticized the conflict in the Middle East.
