In Moscow museums, visitors can see rare exhibits, which are carefully monitored by specialists. They maintain a special microclimate with a certain humidity and temperature, and also protect objects from dust, pollution and light. All exhibits are numbered and listed in a topographical inventory. This was announced by the Ministry of Culture.
The formation of the Cosmonautics Museum funds began in 1969. The first item was a plaster bust of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, purchased from the artist and sculptor Joseph Arkhipov. In the first years, the collection was replenished with stuffed dogs “Belka” and “Strelka”, which today are displayed in the first room of the permanent exhibition. The museum works with astronauts, institutions, scientists, and descendants of early space explorers for operational acquisitions.
Collections and Collections Department staff select unique materials and artifacts that reflect the history of space exploration over the past 69 years. Their tasks include collecting original samples of equipment, unique models, instruments for special extraterrestrial purposes, documents and photographs.
In addition, the collection includes memorabilia items that allow us to trace the history of astronauts through the personal belongings of the flight participants. Earlier, on March 14 and 15, in the Victory Museum, visitors were presented with an interactive exhibition with a costume story dedicated to the storming of Vyborg in March 1940.
