Russian San Jose Sharks forward Igor Chernyshov was injured in an away NHL regular season game against the Montreal Canadiens. The incident occurred early in the first half when the 20-year-old was hit by Montreal defender Michael Matheson.
Chernyshov fell unsuccessfully and hit his head. He tried to get up several times, but he fell again, and he only left the ice with the help of his colleagues.
After the accident, Chernyshov was examined at a local hospital and has already returned to the team, San Jose coach Ryan Warsowski said. The player plans to travel with the Sharks to Ottawa to participate in the next match Red blood cells.
This season, Chernyshov played 16 games and scored 11 points, including three goals and eight assists.
Injuries occur during matches in different situations. So, in January 2025, Olympic hockey champion and two-time Stanley Cup winner Jaromir Jagr, who plays for Kladno, posted a photo of his broken teeth after a match in the Czech championship. In the published photo, Jagger shows a crooked smile, revealing his jaw with broken front teeth.
