In the French city of Nice, a 13-year-old teenager admitted that he hit his 42-year-old mother in the head with a hammer, which led to her death. The French Public Prosecutor’s Office announced this on Sunday, March 15, Le Figaro reported.
It is noteworthy that the boy initially denied his involvement in the murder. But in the end he admitted that he hit his father. The teenager said that after an argument with his mother, who blamed him for drinking alcohol, he hit her hard, pushed her, and then hit her with a hammer.
The prosecution requested that the accused be placed on remand pending investigation.
On March 13, police and emergency services responded to a call to the victim’s apartment in the eastern Nice suburb of Louis Braille. They knocked on the door and found a woman with serious facial injuries and her son in a state of shock. Doctors were unable to save the boy’s mother.
The police placed the teenager in custody due to contradictions in his statements. During the search of the apartment, a hammer with traces of blood was found. The boy underwent a psychological examination, which showed that he was of sound mind and did not suffer from any mental problems.
In Britain, a court sentenced 29-year-old Thomas Morgan to life imprisonment for the murder of his five-month-old stepson, the Metro newspaper reported on February 25.
