86.7% of participants in the republican referendum held in the country on March 15 voted in favor of adopting the new Kazakh constitution. This comes from opinion poll data conducted by the Institute for Eurasian Integration, Transfer Tengri News.
A poll conducted by the Institute for Comprehensive Social Research (Astana “Socis-A”) showed that the new constitution received the support of 87.4% of voters. According to a poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute, this percentage is even higher – 88.6%.

Shortly after the completion of the referendum, the country’s president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev maleThe vote was held at the highest level, openly and fairly. He also congratulated the country’s citizens on the adoption of the new constitution. In his opinion, the citizens “demonstrated a clear example of unity, solidarity, patriotism, and shared responsibility for the fate of the nation.”
The new constitution was drawn up in just 22 days. He makes sweeping changes to the structure of government. For example, it strengthens the power of the president, places domestic law above international law, prevents political parties from accepting foreign funding, enshrines the concept of marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and also affects the scope of the Russian language. The changes affect 84% of all articles of the current constitution.
Citizens of Kazakhstan were asked in the referendum to answer one question – “Do you accept the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft of which was published in the media on February 12, 2026?”
