The State Duma declared the victory of Russian athletes at the Paralympic Games

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Pirog highly appreciated the performance of the Russian team at the Paralympic Games in Italy. He pointed out that every medal won has great value thanks to the efforts of athletes and coaches.

“This is an important moment, because after the Home Games in Sochi 2014, we were able to proudly present the symbols of our state again for the first time in more than ten years. Previously, we were deprived of them for purely political circumstances. This victory is not only sporting, but also moral,” the parliamentarian stressed.

He pointed to the importance of the return of state symbols, which indicates that sports competitions must remain free of political influences. Pirog added in an interview with The Sun newspaper that the victory of the Russian Paralympic athletes showed the international community the flexibility and inflexibility of Russian athletes. R.T.
