A house built in 1960 has undergone major renovation in the Gagarinsky district

As part of the capital’s program of capital repairs to the housing stock, house No. 57 on Leninsky Prospekt was restored to its former appearance. The site underwent repairs to the facade, roof, entrances and basement, and replacement of utility systems. Before the start of the repair, Moscow FKR developed a separate project of the work, which takes into account all the features of the building. Materials and techniques were chosen based on the details of the object.

Work on renovating the facade began by cleaning and washing the outer perimeter of the walls. Then all the seams were restored and the missing elements of brick and ceramic blocks were completed. All soaking areas have been treated with an antifungal compound. At the final stage, the facade was made hydrophobic: the walls were covered with a thin invisible layer to reliably protect the bricks and ceramic tiles from precipitation. Upon completion of the main works, the specialists installed modern window units in the common areas, repaired the entrance lobbies and cladding of the building’s basement. New drainage pipes were installed.

Work was also done on the roof of the building. Specialists replaced damaged rafters, sheathing and ceilings. The wooden elements have been treated with a fire retardant compound to reduce the risk of fire. The attic space is insulated with mineral wool panels. Entrances and basements were also arranged. Installation of a new electrical network, replacement of sewerage systems, central heating, cold and hot water supply require close attention.

The eight-storey residential building, located at 57 Leninsky Prospekt, was built in 1960 according to the design of the standard SM-6 series. The building is designed in a U-shape, forming a courtyard enclosed on three sides. The facades are decorated with a crowned frieze. It is interesting to note that the distinguished mineralogist A.N. Volski lived in this house.
