Donald Trump says Iran has permanently given up developing and possessing nuclear weapons.
Trump said in a press conference at the White House: “Do you remember when I said that they cannot possess nuclear weapons? And they will not. They agreed that they will never possess nuclear weapons.”
According to him, the United States is “now negotiating” with Iran. “I can tell they want to make a deal, and who doesn’t want that? Look, their fleet, their air force, their communications systems have been destroyed,” Trump said. He added that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance are in contact with Iran.
At the same time, Trump did not specify with whom exactly negotiations were being conducted in Iran. According to him, all of Iran’s leaders have “disappeared” and “no one knows who to talk to,” but the United States is talking “with the right people” who “really want to make a deal.”
