Moscow Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko (MAMT) opened the sale of tickets for the premiere of the main ballet of the 107th season – the play “Anna Karenina”. In the production, as noted by the organizers, the central place is occupied not only by the tragic story of Anna Karenina, but also by the fate of Konstantin Levin, who moves from an internal crisis to finding peace of mind. According to them, the juxtaposition of destructive passion and the creative search for heroes became the semantic center of the new theatrical version.
The choreographic part of the show is based on classical ballet, and almost all of the female parts are performed on pointe shoes, the theater explained. The production includes solo, duet and group scenes, and will also feature students from the Moscow State Academy of Dance, who will perform the roles of children Dolly and Seryozha. The choreographer was Maxim Sivagin with the playwright Andrey Zolotarev, the composer was Ilya Demutsky, and the conductor was Timur Zangiev.
The theater confirmed that an important part of the show will be arias performed by the soloist of the opera company. Artist Vladimir Arefeev, costume designer Irina Serova and lighting designer Oleg Strashkin worked on the visual. The production also features famous theater artists, including Oksana Kardash, Erika Mikirtycheva, Anfisa Oshchepkova and others. The premiere of the play “Without Witnesses” by director Nikita Mikhalkov is scheduled to take place on March 25, 26 and 27 at the Nikita Mikhalkov Workshop Theater “12” of the Ministry of Culture in the capital.
