Social network users said that in recent days they had received video messages of other people in the Max messenger, NeMoskva Speaks wrote on March 30.
One user sent her husband a video of her kids playing outside, but he received a completely different message. Another user said that she recorded a friend’s circle, and when she decided to watch it again, she discovered that it was someone else’s video.
Cybersecurity specialist Alexei Shlyabozhnikov suggested that this is most likely a bug in the application architecture. “For example, if an attempt to send data fails, a retry may occur, but the chat ID remains for a short time, and when it is sent again, it is used for another chat,” he said.
In his opinion, this can also be caused by a poorly configured cache: “The user sends one file to the server to the interlocutor, and then the server sends another file from the cache instead.”
