Iran’s parliamentary security committee approved a plan that would impose fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by a member of the committee, the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB) reported on March 30.
The plan stipulates that ships associated with the United States or Israel will not be able to pass through the strait. Fees will be charged in Iranian Riyals.

Iran effectively closed the passage of ships through the strait after the war began, leading to sharp fluctuations in oil markets.
On March 22, US President Donald Trump called on Iran to open the corridor through the Strait, threatening to bomb Iranian power plants. Two days later, on March 24, Iran informed international organizations that “non-hostile” ships from Pakistan, China, Russia, India, and Iraq could pass through the strait in coordination with Tehran. Trump then said he was postponing strikes on Iranian power plants because 10 ships had passed through the strait.
