Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin said that pizza delivery by drone will become commonplace in three to four years. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday, March 31, on the eve of the International Transport and Logistics Forum (ITLF), which will be held from April 1 to 3 in St. Petersburg.
According to the minister, about two years have passed since the appearance of the delivery robot until it was widely used. He pointed out that technology development and digitization are on the agenda of the upcoming forum RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the head of the Main Metropolitan Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Oleg Baranov, said that couriers in Moscow are scheduled to be replaced by delivery robots. Moreover, the movement speed of these robots will be three to five kilometers per hour.
Last January, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin admitted that delivery robots could replace couriers on bicycles. According to the city president, within five years there will be a massive introduction of unmanned vehicles around the world.
On December 18, it was reported that Yandex plans to increase the audio signals of its delivery robots when they are close to a person following the incident on the Arbat.
