The Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Republic of Dagestan announced the start of emergency vaccination against hepatitis A in flood-affected areas.
“In emergency areas, due to recent floods and the risk of outbreaks of infection, emergency immunization against epidemiological indications against viral hepatitis A has begun,” the press service of the Rospotrebnadzor department in Dagestan said. “This measure is aimed at protecting the population.”
First of all, they will vaccinate employees of public catering and food trade institutions, employees of catering departments of pre-school institutions, social, educational and medical institutions, workers in the sewerage network service, participants in emergency response, as well as people who found themselves in temporary accommodation centers due to floods.
The Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Dagestan reported on the evening of April 4 that more than 30 people were poisoned in Kaspiysk, possibly due to drinking water. The investigation committee began an investigation to find out “the circumstances and causes of the poisoning.”
In the North Caucasus, at the end of March, heavy rains caused floods, which hit Dagestan hard, with tens of thousands of residents left without electricity, road traffic cut off, and railway lines damaged. In cities, including Makhachkala, about 800 homes were flooded, and more than three thousand people were evacuated.
