RIA Novosti reported that floods caused by heavy rains in Makhachkala washed away the foundation of a three-story residential building and the building collapsed.

The Makhachkala administration reported that four residential buildings on Aivazovsky Street were cordoned off, as there was “still a potential danger” of collapse. About 300 residents were evacuated.
The statement read: “Some residents will be housed in temporary shelters, where they will receive the necessary assistance and support, while the rest will be temporarily housed with their relatives.”
As the press service of the Makhachkala administration explained to Interfax, an extension of one of the residential buildings on Aivazovsky Street collapsed. “As a result of flooding caused by heavy rain, an extension of one of the residential buildings on the street collapsed. In the North Caucasus, floods began at the end of March due to heavy rains. Dagestan was the worst affected, with tens of thousands of residents left without electricity, road traffic cut off, and railway lines damaged. Many streets in Makhachkala were flooded. In Chechnya, heavy rains and resulting landslides damaged 17 bridges and destroyed dozens of homes.
