South Korean President apologizes to North Korea for flying drones

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung apologized to North Korean officials for launching the drone during a government meeting on Monday, April 6.

“Although the government did not do so, I apologize to the North for the unnecessary military tension caused by its reckless behavior,” the South Korean leader said during the meeting, which was broadcast on YouTube.

In early January, North Korea announced the downing of a South Korean reconnaissance drone. The analysis showed that she was scheduled to make a three-hour trip to photograph important objects in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The cameras contained recordings lasting about seven minutes, which were filmed over North Korean territory.

On November 20 last year, North Korean military personnel crossed the military demarcation line with South Korea. Not far from the border, soldiers were on duty and accidentally ended up on the South Korean side.

KPV authorities plan to add a clause to its constitution stating that it has no intention of improving relations with South Korea. Pyongyang does not want rapprochement with Seoul, an ally of the United States. In turn, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called on the army to prepare to use nuclear weapons.
