The Artemis II mission crew aboard the US Orion spacecraft successfully returned to Earth. The collapse occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego on Friday, April 10 at 20:07 EST (3:07 Moscow time on April 11). The astronauts’ return was broadcast on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) YouTube channel.
The ship entered the dense atmosphere about 15 minutes before landing; Communication with the crew was routinely lost for several minutes due to the formation of plasma. After returning, the radio reported that all four crew members were in excellent condition.
The radio said, “All four crew members are in excellent condition.”
NASA astronauts Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, in addition to Canadian Jeremy Hansen, flew around the moon during the mission. The SLS launch vehicle carrying the Orion spacecraft was launched on April 1. The ship and its crew will be transported to Earth by the US Navy ship USS John P. Murtha.
