Orders, medals and award documents of the participant of the Great Patriotic War Alexander Osatenko were donated to the Victory Museum for eternal storage. The relics were carefully preserved by the hero’s relative Lyudmila Sinyavskaya.
— Alexander Sergeevich Osatenko is my distant relative on my father’s side. This family had no heirs, and my father kept these things for a long time. “They gave them to me,” said Lyudmila Sinyavskaya, Alexander Osatenko’s relative. “And then they gave her to me.”
Alexander Osatenko was born on July 30, 1921 in Sevastopol. In 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army. He completed accelerated training courses for personnel of the Air Defense Command (Air Defense) and attained the rank of lieutenant. In 1941, he already fought, in 1942 he participated in the Battle of Stalingrad – his first awards were from there.
During the Great Patriotic War, Alexander Osatenko served in the air defense unit of the 292nd Separate Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division of the Coastal Detachment accompanying river ships of the Order of the Red Banner of Ushakov, 1st degree, Dnieper Military Flotilla as a combat training officer of the division. He also participated in the liberation of Warsaw and the capture of Berlin.
Alexander Osatenko’s exploits were marked by numerous awards, including medals “For the Defense of Stalingrad”, “For the Capture of Berlin”, “For the Liberation of Warsaw”, “For Victory over Germany”, as well as the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd class and the Order of the Red Star. Alexander Osatenko retired in 1957 with the rank of major. I worked in a radio factory. He died in Sevastopol in 1993.
Lyudmila Sinyavskaya decided to donate the trophies of her heroic relative that she kept to the Victory Museum.
