An Austrian was fined for passing gas too loudly near the police

A man in Vienna has won a lawsuit against police who fined him for loudly throwing gas in the street. The man was talking on the phone at the cigarette stand and involuntarily farted and laughed, much to the dismay of two law enforcement officers who were nearby.

Officers deemed the man’s behavior inappropriate and imposed two fines on him totaling 300 euros – for “insulting public order” and “mocking a lawful official act.” However, the Austrian did not agree with the decision and decided to appeal it. The Regional Administrative Court sided with the plaintiff and said that the farting was “involuntary” and that laughter was a manifestation of freedom of expression, the Daily Mail reported.

Another unusual incident occurred in Russia. The family filed a lawsuit against Rossiya Airlines demanding compensation for moral damages in the amount of 1 million rubles. The cause of the lawsuit was the smell of feces emanating from a passenger during the Sochi – St. Petersburg flight
