Iran has informed the United States that it will not begin the second round of negotiations with the American side until Washington meets five conditions, Fars News Agency reported on May 12, citing a source.
According to him, the list consists of five points:
- Ending the war on all fronts, especially in Lebanon.
- Lifting US sanctions on Iran,
- Release of frozen Iranian funds
- Compensation for damages resulting from war,
- Recognizing Iran’s right to sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
The agency source pointed out the necessity of meeting these conditions in order to create a minimum level of confidence before negotiations.
Iran presented its conditions to the United States in response to Washington’s 14-point proposal, including Iran’s refusal to develop nuclear weapons in exchange for lifting sanctions.
US President Donald Trump to talkWhich received Iran’s response on May 10. He said he did not like Iran’s proposals and found them “unacceptable.” But Trump did not say what exactly Iran is offering.
In the US-Israel war with Iran, the temporary truce concluded by the two sides in early April remains in effect, despite the fact that opponents continue to strike each other from time to time.
