In the Yakovlevsky district of the Belgorod region, an electric train traveling along the Razumnoye-Tomarovka route derailed, said the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
According to preliminary data from local authorities, the cause of the accident was the loss of about two meters of the railway line on the tracks.
“The driver had to use the emergency brakes. This caused half the car to derail. At the time of the accident, there were 15 people on board the train; one woman suffered a laceration to her leg and a soft tissue bruise in her back,” Gladkov said.
Initially, Gladkov wrote that the painting’s absence “could have been caused by the explosion of an explosive device.” He later corrected the post. Now he talks about “the absence of about two meters from the railway track, which may be due to damage.” The type of damage was not specified.
Meanwhile, according to the governor, explosives experts from the Russian Ministry of Defense are working at the site.
Since the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, there have been several incidents of bombing of railways or other infrastructure on Russian territory. Thus, in June 2025, a series of explosions occurred in the Bryansk, Kursk and Voronezh regions. In the Bryansk region, a road bridge collapsed under which a passenger train was passing. Seven people were killed and more than a hundred injured.
