The risk of developing primary heart cancer is minimal. According to statistics, the percentage of these tumors does not exceed 0.1 percent of all types of cancer in the world. Candidate of Medical Sciences, cardiologist Anna Korobenikova spoke about this.
– Very often we encounter secondary damage to the heart: when the tumor is mainly localized in another organ, and metastases appear in the heart – Cancer cells can settle with blood or lymph flow on the valves, in the thickness of the muscles or in the lining of the heart (in the pericardium). The specialist pointed out that the most common metastases to the heart are lung cancer, breast cancer, melanoma and leukemia.
