A fire broke out in the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant area in the western UAE, as a result of a drone attack. This was reported by the Abu Dhabi Emergency Center on Sunday, May 17.
A fire broke out in an electric generator outside the inner perimeter of the nuclear power plant building.
The center added in a statement on the social networking site: “No injuries were reported, and the accident did not affect the level of radiation safety.”
The Federal Administration for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) also confirmed that the accident did not affect the safety of the power plant, and that all power units were operating as usual.
On May 4, Iran also attacked the territory of the United Arab Emirates with missiles. The Ministry of Defense stated that three of them were intercepted, and another fell into the sea. Flights have been suspended at Dubai and Sharjah airports.
In addition, as a result of an Iranian drone strike in the city of Fujairah, a fire broke out at an oil industrial facility.
In turn, the United Nations Security Council held a closed session regarding the Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates.
