A Barcelona court released businessman Jonathan Andek, son of the founder of the Spanish department store chain Mango, who was suspected of killing his father, they write. Country and Vanguard.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office requested that Andek be detained with the possibility of paying bail of one million euros. The judge granted the request. Andik’s defense paid bail via bank transfer, after which he was released and left the courtroom accompanied by his lawyer.
Andik will be required to appear in court once a week. In addition, his passport was confiscated and he was banned from leaving Spain.
The judge noted that the case showed signs of “premeditation” on the part of Jonathan Andek, and pointed to a possible economic motive related to the family inheritance: in her opinion, the son feared that his father would change the will, directing part of the estate to a charity. There is also reference to an alleged “obsession with money” and a deteriorating relationship between son and father, although the family publicly denies this.
Mango founder Isaac Indyk died in December 2024, after falling from the height of Montserrat Mountain in Catalonia, where he was on a trip with his son. Initially, the investigation considered the death of Isaac Andek an accident. But then the police found inconsistencies in his son Jonathan’s testimony. On May 19, 2026, Catalan police arrested Jonathan Andek.
