A priest with a broken hip in Canada was twice persuaded to undergo euthanasia.

After ending up in a Canadian hospital with a broken hip, 79-year-old priest Larry Holland was twice offered by doctors to undergo euthanasia. MK reported this on Sunday, May 31.

The man was not terminally ill and expected to recover, so he refused “help” on moral grounds, describing this pressure as misanthropic.

“People are really starting to get used to the fact that Canada’s euthanasia program is expanding, but the pressure it’s putting on particularly vulnerable patients is really scary,” he said.

MAiD advocates, in turn, said it’s just a matter of informing patients of their rights.

Despite this, critics see a shift here: euthanasia has become increasingly accepted as the standard solution to the problem of suffering in the context of poverty or loneliness.

Earlier, Spanish doctors euthanized 25-year-old Noelia Castillo Ramos, who suffered from depression after being raped. The operation took place in a medical and social institution in Barcelona.
