The Finnish national team became world champions for the fifth time. She previously won gold medals in 1995, 2011, 2019 and 2022. The Finns equaled the Russian national team in victories at the World Championship. The Swiss team won the silver medal in the World Championship for the sixth time in history and the third time in a row.
The bronze medal went to the Norwegian team. In the match for third place, the Norwegians defeated the Canadian team, which holds the record for the number of victories in the World Championships (28), with a score of 3: 2 in overtime.
The World Championships were held in Zurich and Freiburg. In 2027, the tournament will be held in Germany, and will be hosted by the cities of Dusseldorf and Mannheim.
On March 17, the National Hockey League press service announced that the next World Cup of Hockey will be held in Canada and the Czech Republic. Prague and Calgary will host group stage matches and one playoff match each. The semi-finals and final will be held in Edmonton.
