The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Russia is working with the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the issue of introducing mandatory housing insurance against natural emergencies. This was announced by the head of the department, Eric Visolin, on Thursday, June 4.
The minister said during a speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that about 14,000 homes are flooded in the country every year, and about 15,000 homes burn.
“There has to be a solution, of course, and insurance is probably the best tool that preserves and provides all the necessary additional solutions,” says Fayzulin. RIA Novosti.
Floods previously started in Dagestan due to heavy rains that the region experienced from April 4 to 5. Thus, more than 2 thousand residential buildings, 1.8 thousand household plots and 173 sections of highways were flooded in the republic.
Already on May 25, roads in Makhachkala were partially flooded as a result of prolonged rains. A week later, in the Khasavyurt region of Dagestan, a house in the village of Petrakovsky was swept away by the Aktash River.
