Russian climber Alena Bykova announced on Tuesday, June 23, that she had entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest woman to climb the 14 highest mountains in the world.

“I have now been officially listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest woman to climb all eighteen thousand mountains in the world,” the athlete wrote in her personal blog.

On October 9, 2024, Alina Bykova became the first person in the country to conquer the 14 highest mountains in the world. The Shishapangma peak in the Himalayas became the last in the list of 14 “eight thousand” peaks visited by a Russian woman.

Over the course of 1.5 years, the girl conquered Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nangaparbat and Annapurna, which are located in the Himalayas, as well as Chojuri/K2, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, Broad Peak of the Karakoram mountain system.

On May 20, 2026, athlete Rustam Nabiev set a new record, reaching the summit of Everest at an altitude of 8,848 meters. At the same time, the man moved exclusively on his hands, which made him the first alpine climber in history to conquer the highest point of the planet in this way.
