According to a study conducted by the Russian Institute of Conflict Science and Analysis (ICAR), 81% of Russians support ending the war “tomorrow.” This is the highest number since the beginning of the major war between Russia and Ukraine, as the authors of the Russia Mirror study note. Since 2023, it has remained at 72-75%.
The number of Russians who supported a war without a time frame until complete victory decreased – from 13% to 9%. This is the minimum since the beginning of the Great War.
In addition, the results of a study conducted last May show that the issue of Russia’s war with Ukraine once again occupied first place on the list of pressing issues for Russians, ahead of falling wages and rising prices. “The main problem was named by 33% of respondents, low wages and high prices – 24% and 18%, respectively. “The war, as a background event, has once again become an important factor in the daily life of Russians,” ICAR experts point out.
ICAR notes that Russians link the end of the war to an improvement in their financial situation. These two goals, according to 58% of survey participants, are the ones that the President of the Russian Federation should make his top priorities in 2026.
A separate set of questions is devoted to mobile Internet restrictions, “whitelists” and Telegram blocking. Most participants have a negative attitude towards them. The study’s authors assert that “dissatisfaction with such actions taken by the authorities is noticeable among different social groups, because the obstacles disrupt their usual way of life, which has developed over the years.”
