Doctors at Morozov Hospital removed 16 magnets from the nose of a ten-year-old boy. This was reported on Tuesday, June 30 by the press service of the Ministry of Health in Moscow.
The boy was brought to the doctors with magnetic cubes in his nostrils: the toys were tied with tight chains and caused severe pain.
At the same time, the magnets were shallow, so specialists were able to remove them using a special ring.
After the operation, doctors examined the child’s nose, throat, and larynx. They also took X-rays of the chest and abdomen to ensure that the child had not swallowed the toys.
— The main danger lies in the interaction of the magnets. Once they reach opposite sides of the nasal septum, they are attracted, putting pressure on the mucous membrane and cartilage, which can lead to tissue necrosis, says otolaryngologist Sergei Kolmakov. cable– Department channel.
In April, doctors from the Moscow Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health performed successful surgery on a five-year-old boy who suffered a rare fracture of his left forearm.
Earlier, doctors at Morozov Hospital in the capital were able to save a ten-year-old student who accidentally inhaled sweets powder. The child arrived at the institution in serious condition, so he was urgently transferred to the intensive care room.
