On 7 July, the IOC temporarily reinstated membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). The IOC also recognized the recommendations regarding the admission of Russian athletes to competitions as no longer relevant. The organization indicated that decisions regarding whether or not to accept Russians in competitions will continue to be made by international sports federations and tournament organizers.
Russian football clubs and national teams have been suspended from FIFA and UEFA tournaments since 2022 due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
