Former British Member of Parliament, Anne Widdicombe, 78 years old, was found dead in England. Sky News reported that police in Devon and Cornwall have opened a murder investigation in connection with the politician’s death.
Police said they went to Widdecombe’s home at noon and found her body with serious injuries.
In the evening, police announced that a 26-year-old British man had been arrested on suspicion of Widdecombe’s murder. The police did not provide any details about him or his motives.
Widdecombe’s killing has not yet been treated as an act of terrorism or a politically motivated crime.
Anne Widdecombe was born in 1947 in Somerset. She was a Conservative Party Member of Parliament from 1987 to 2010. Widdecombe was known for her Conservative views, particularly on family issues, immigration and European integration. From 2019 to 2020 she was a Member of the European Parliament for the Brexit Party.
