Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that Yulia Sviridenko will leave the post of Prime Minister soon. Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel that this decision is due to the fact that “Ukraine is changing its political strategy.”
“A specific person with great experience will be responsible for each priority direction of foreign policy,” Zelensky declared. He said that among these areas is cooperation with the United States, including regarding missiles of the Patriot air defense system, and cooperation with the European Union in the defense sector and on issues of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Zelensky also highlighted interaction with “Ukraine’s neighbors, with whom relations need a new basis, and this applies in particular to Poland and Hungary,” as well as with China and Middle Eastern countries.
“The same applies to internal work,” Zelensky wrote. He pointed to work “on the front lines and border regions of Ukraine, which are subject to daily Russian strikes,” increasing the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including drones, as well as preparations for the winter.
Zelensky announced that to implement the updated political strategy, personnel changes would be needed, including “modernization of the Cabinet of Ministers.”
The President of Ukraine thanked Yulia Sviridenko “for her clear, stable and effective work as Prime Minister.” Zelensky said Sviridenko was offered to head “a new important direction in relations with a major partner,” without elaborating on the details.
The resignation of the Prime Minister means that all members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will leave their posts.
Yulia Svyrydenko took office as Prime Minister of Ukraine in July 2025. Before her appointment to this position, she was First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine (since 4 November 2021). As Prime Minister, Sviridenko replaced Denis Shmygal, who had headed the Cabinet of Ministers since March 2020. Shmygal was appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Ukrainian media He writes Oyan does not rule out the possibility of Shmygal returning to the position of Prime Minister.
