A French mayor was found dead after his election defeat

Christian Bersay, the current mayor of the small French municipality of Feuilles-de-Bains-de-Basse, has been found dead. He died shortly after losing in the first round of the municipal elections held on March 15. This was reported by the newspaper Figaro in reference to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Pau.

Bersait disappeared on the evening of March 15, immediately after the results were announced, according to which his competitor obtained 55.5 percent of the votes. Upon learning of the loss, the mayor left the polling station and stopped communicating. The family discovered that the man was missing and contacted the police.

The official’s body was found on the morning of March 16 in a wooded area near the town. His car was located dozens of meters away from this place. The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Pau has already launched an investigation and is leaning towards the suicide version.

Shortly before that, French surgeon François Vivre, who had declared French First Lady Brigitte Macron transgender, was found dead in the 12th arrondissement of Paris: he had fallen from the window of his apartment.
