San Francisco police have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail into the home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, ABC News reported on April 10, citing OpenAI.
According to police, the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail at Altman’s home around 4 a.m., causing the gate to catch fire. No one was hurt. The suspect fled and his details were handed over to the police.
An hour later, police arrived at OpenAI’s headquarters, where a man allegedly threatened to burn down the building. Police determined this was the same man who attacked Altman’s home. A 20-year-old suspect has been arrested and is preparing to face charges.
OpenAI said the situation was under control and that its offices were not in danger. The San Francisco Police Department’s arson unit is leading the investigation, the company said. The FBI said it is aware of the incident and is cooperating with police.
