A ship sailing from Murmansk to Colombia asked for help in the Norwegian Sea

The Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship LMZ Pluto, sailing from Murmansk to Santa Marta (Colombia), requested assistance in the Norwegian Sea. This was reported by Norwegian public broadcaster NRK on Tuesday, March 24.

– The ship sent a distress signal. We are interviewing him. The captain requested evacuation. Earlier it was reported that the ship had engine problems and a power plant malfunction. “The weather is very bad,” Anya Bakken, a representative of the Norwegian Coastal Administration, told the portal.

He explained that two helicopters were sent to assist the sailors, which led to the death of the entire crew of 23 people. The rescue operation was successful and no one was harmed as a result.

Russian icebreakers are actively helping cargo ships stuck in the ice in the Gulf of Finland. This was reported on February 26 by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.
