Azov team exchanged for Medvedchuk – Zelensky

Viktor Medvedchuk, suspected of high treason, was exchanged for more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers on September 21.

“I think we could have basically traded Medvedchuk for one of our Azovites and a hero, and the fact that we returned such an amount is really something for the entire state to drink up, excuse me,” said the head of state.

On the evening of September 21, it was announced that with Russian side Kiev held a prisoner exchange. Among them are the defenders of Azovstal, commander of the Azov regiment Denis Prokopenko (Radish), his deputy Svyatoslav Palamar (Kalina), commander of the 36th naval brigade Sergei Volynsky (Volyn), senior sergeant of the 36th brigade Mikhail Dianov (known from a photo with an injured hand), Azov press officer Dmitry Kazatsky (“Orest”), chief of the Mariupol patrol police Mikhail Vershinin, doctor Ekaterina Polishchuk (“Bird”) and others.

Also on Wednesday, the official representative of Saudi Arabia announced that agreements have been reached with the Russian Federation in negotiations on the release of foreign citizens from Russian captivity. This made it possible to return ten prisoners of war captured during the hostilities in Ukraine: citizens of the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Croatia and Morocco.
