Chukotka has become the only region of the Russian Federation whose pension is more than 40 thousand rubles

In only one region of Russia, the average pension in February 2026 exceeded 40 thousand rubles. We are talking about the Chukotka Autonomous Oblast, according to statistics from the Social Fund.

The average pension of Chukotka residents was 41,943 rubles. At the same time, working pensioners receive in the region 38 thousand rubles, and non-working pensioners receive almost 44 thousand rubles. For comparison, the average pension in the country in February was 25,261 rubles TASS.

Earlier, Natalia Melnikova, a senator and former head of the branch of the Social Fund for the Pskov Region, said that Russians can buy additional retirement points and length of service to assign a pension – this year, the minimum contribution of 71,525 rubles will provide 1.09 retirement points and one year of experience.

On April 1, the Social Fund recalculated the pensions of more than four million people. The index reached 6.8 percent and was determined according to the level of growth in the cost of living in 2025.

Before that, Anastasia Gorlkina, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the JSC Holding of the Siberian Business Union, noted that military service, maternity leave and care for an elderly relative count towards retirement experience and points are given, even if the citizen does not officially work.
