This game is not only between these two teams, but also two of the top HS teams in America.
The Grayson (Loganville, GA) varsity football team has a neutral playoff game vs. Collins Hill (Suwanee, GA) today @ 7p.
This game is a part of the “2021 Georgia High School Football Playoff Brackets: GHSA – AAAAAAA” tournament.
For a nationally prominent team that started and finished ranked No. 1 in Georgia, Grayson belied how difficult the journey must’ve been Wednesday night with a 38-14 victory over Collins Hill in the Class 7A championship game at Center Parc Stadium. The dominant Rams didn’t have a game any closer in their five playoff victories.
Grayson (14-0) scored touchdowns on five of its seven first-half possessions, racing to a 35-0 lead, and won a third state title in 10 years.
Jayvian Allen, Grayson’s strong safety and leading tackler but sparsely used on offense, scored three touchdowns out of the wildcat format in the first half. His 13-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-2 with 1:40 left in the first quarter was the turning point, if there was one, giving Grayson a 14-0 lead and setting the rout in motion.
“I’ve talked about Jayvian Allen all season, and finally folks may be trying to figure this thing out,” Grayson coach Adam Carter said of an underrated performer on a team teeming with major Division I talent. “That kid is a ballplayer, and he’s got to be one of the best players in the state of Georgia.”
Joseph Taylor and Sean Downer, running backs who played lesser roles in the regular season, rushed for a total of for 213 yards on 31 carries.
