The World Motor Sport Council has finally approved the 2023 F1 calendar, which will feature a record 24 races. The 2023 season will start on March 5 and end on November 26.

Announcing the 2023 calendar, FIA President Ben Sulayem said:

“Having 24 races on the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar is further evidence of the sport’s growth and appeal globally. Adding new venues and maintaining events traditional underlines the good management of the sport by the FIA.I am delighted that we can bring the new era of exciting racing in Formula 1, created by the 2022 FIA Regulations, to a wider fan base in 2023. 24 hours of Le Mans.

The 2023 calendar will feature 24 races, including three in the United States of America. Next season will also see the return of the Qatar GP and the Chinese GP. The new addition to the schedule will be the Las Vegas GP, which will be the penultimate round on the schedule in November.

As teams ran into long schedules due to logistical challenges and physical strain placed on team personnel, the growing demand for the sport made it difficult to maintain the schedule for less than 23 races. With the season opener scheduled for March 5, that leaves teams with a shorter offseason, with pre-season testing potentially scheduled for February.

Despite concerns about a lengthening season, the schedule will see two triple headers and six double headers. The dates for the pre-season tests are yet to be confirmed and are presumably scheduled for February.
