Fencing Federation of Ukraine urged to extend sanctions against Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus

Ukrainian fencers with an official letter addressed to the International Fencing Federation (FIE) to prevent the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.

According to press office Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, President of the National Fencing Federation, Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Gutsait signed a corresponding statement, reports Ukrinform.

The Ukrainian side is counting on a complete ban on Russian and Belarusian participation in all international tournaments. Even under a neutral flag. This will be a demonstration that a civilized international society is against military aggression in the modern world.

“Representatives of the aggressor countries cannot be part of the fair and honest Olympic sport while Russia continues this bloody war,” the letter reads.

Recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has recommended that all sports federations exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions after a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
