Neymar Jr. took to social media to send a message to Brazilian fans following his side’s 2-0 2022 FIFA World Cup win over Serbia on November 24.

The South American giants started their World Cup campaign in ideal fashion but had to wait 62 minutes to score their first goal. A pass from Neymar found Vinicius Junior, whose shot led directly to Richarlison’s first goal of the game.

11 minutes later, the Tottenham Hotspur striker put things to bed with a scissor kick. Neymar was taken off in the 80th minute and it was soon revealed that the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) playmaker suffered an ankle injury.

Manager Tite has eased the anxiety around the situation that Neymar will continue playing at the World Cup. The ex-Barcelona striker’s message to his fans after the match didn’t contain any alarm bells regarding his situation either.

Jogo difficult, mas era important ganhar. Parabéns team, primeiro passo dado… Faltam 6 💙💚💛🇧🇷

He tweeted:

“Difficult match, but it was important to win. Congratulations to the team, first step taken… 6 💙💚💛 [Brazil flag]”

The ‘6’ would certainly refer to the number of times his country would have won the World Cup had they lifted the trophy in Qatar. They have won the competition a record five times in their history (1958 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002).

Tite’s side top Group G after Matchday 1. Switzerland are only second on goal difference after beating Cameroon on 24 November. The Swiss face Brazil on November 28, which could decide who progresses to the knockout stages with one game to spare.

Brazil 2022 World Cup winger could be represented by Neymar’s father in future

According Mark (h/t @MadridXtra), Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is looking to replace his agent, and Neymar Jr.’s father, Neymar Santos Sr., is a candidate.

Rodrygo has traveled to the World Cup with Brazil and may have time to discuss a change in his representation with Neymar’s father and Real Madrid team-mate Eder Militao’s agent, both viable candidates .

Brazilian centre-back Militao is represented by UJ Football Talent, who are also in the running to put Rodrygo’s name on their books. The winger still has just over two and a half years left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid could start worrying about the 21-year-old’s contract situation if he enters the final two seasons of his contract next summer. His main focus, for now, will undoubtedly be the World Cup.

He made his competition debut as a 76th-minute substitute for Vinicius Jr. against Serbia.
