Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he will be boxing YouTube star Deji Olatunji next, after fighting Mikuru Asakura over the weekend.
Former multi-weight world champion Mayweather retired as a professional boxer in 2017 after stopping former UFC titleholder Conor McGregor to improve his record to 50-0. Since then, the American has beaten kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa via TKO and has gone the distance with YouTuber Logan Paul and boxer Don Moore in exhibition bouts.
Mayweather, 45, is set to box Mikuru Asakura in the mixed martial artist’s native Japan this Saturday (September 24), and he told the Daily Mail on Wednesday (September 21) that a rematch with McGregor was scheduled for 2023.
He then told TMZ that a supposed fight against fellow YouTuber KSI’s younger brother Deji is actually scheduled for November.
“I have a show with one hell of a fighter from Japan,” Mayweather said. “He is great in [MMA] and it’s also big on YouTube. Then I have one with the Deji guy – I want to make sure his name is correct. We are going to do an exhibition in Dubai at the Coca Cola Arena, and it is in November.
Deji, 25, boxed four times and lost his first three fights before finally picking up a victory in August.
The Brit’s first fight saw him lose to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul via TKO in 2018, then he lost to influencer Vinnie Hacker by stoppage last year before suffering a points loss to YouTuber Alex Wassabi in March .
Last month, Deji beat YouTuber Fousey by stoppage to secure a long-awaited win.
