Football rumours: Pedro Martins and Ruben Amorim in the candidacy for Wolves

What the newspapers say

Former Olympiacos coach Pedro Martins expected to be a strong competitor to replace Bruno Lage as manager of Wolves after the latter was sacked, writes the Daily Telegraph. Lage was sacked after talks with Wolves president Jeff Shi following a 2-0 loss to West Ham that left the club in the bottom three of the Premier League table.

The Sun also carries gossip around who Wolves will target as their new boss, with the newspaper reporting that the club is looking to the Sporting Lisbon manager. Ruben Amorim. The 37-year-old actor is at the top of the list of candidates.

Elsewhere, the RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku would have chosen to join Chelsea amid interest from Manchester United and Paris St Germain. According to the Daily Express, Chelsea appear to have “stolen the initiative” in the race to secure the 24-year-old, with the player reportedly having already completed his medicals.

And Liverpool Echo say Sharjah FC have expressed interest in signing the Everton forward Solomon Rondon. The newspaper reports that the UAE club are keen to take the 33-year-old down a similar path to former teammate Allan, who just left the Toffees for Pro League rivals Al Wahda.
