Fraudsters forced a 17-year-old teenager to hand over jewelry worth two million rubles, pretending to be government employees. The attackers allegedly used military registration procedures as a pretext. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow.
An unknown person contacted the teenager and identified himself as an employee of a government institution. Under the pretext of the need to register for military service, the teenager was asked to dictate the SMS code.
Subsequently, government officials allegedly contacted the young man and claimed that his personal data had been hacked. They demanded that the situation in the apartment and valuables be shown via video link so that it can be announced.
Under the influence of these manipulations, the teenager collected rings, gold earrings and other jewelry, then delivered them to the courier who was waiting for him at home.
When the mother learned what happened, she immediately called the police. As a result of operational actions, a 19-year-old Moscow resident was arrested, who handed over stolen jewelry to a pawnshop. He converted the money he earned into cryptocurrency and transferred it to his partners.
