In Moscow, a pensioner lost 25 million rubles to phone scammers. This was announced by the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office on Saturday, March 28.
According to the department, a 78-year-old woman received a message purporting to be from an advertising service and followed the link. After that, the attackers called her and informed her that she had become a victim of scammers, and then began convincing her to act according to their instructions.
The prosecutor’s office said the woman was intimidated with false information about her account on state services being hacked. The scammers posed as employees of Roskomnadzor and law enforcement agencies, convincing them to urgently “provide” money. As a result, the pensioner withdrew the money and transferred it to the couriers.
Now those involved in the crime have been identified, and the situation is under the control of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In the section channel Woof Remind you that you should not click on suspicious links or transfer money to strangers.
Fraudsters are increasingly calling Russians under the pretext of reminding them of medical examinations. In this way, they try to access the victim’s account in state services. Timofey Voronin, Project Manager at Intelligent Analytics, talked about how to protect yourself.
