Germany starts 2022 World Cup with loss to Japan – DW – 23/11/2022

The German national team started with a defeat in the group stage World Cup in Qatar. In Doha at the stadium “Khalifa” on Wednesday, November 23, Bundestim lost to the Japanese team with a score of 1:2.

In the first half German squad held a total advantage in all indicators of the game and caused five shots on target at the opponent’s goal. But the Bundestim only managed to score once: in the 33rd minute, midfielder Ilkay Gündogan converted a penalty. In addition, the teams exchanged goals, but both scored goals were canceled due to an offside declared by the referees.

In the second half, the Japanese team turned the game around. In the 75th minute, Ritsu Doan equalized and in the 83rd minute, Takuma Asano put the Japanese team ahead. All attempts to spare Bundestim at least a point were to no avail.

German national team Two more matches are scheduled in the group stage. On November 27, the Bundestim will play with the Spanish team and on December 1 with Costa Rica.
