Vikings vs Eagles preview

The Minnesota Vikings (1-0) are looking to build on a big win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 while visiting the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.

The Minnesota came into full swing in a 23-7 win over the Packers, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his young wide receivers on defense. The Vikings’ offense featured a brilliant performance by quarterback Kirk Cousins and wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Philadelphia is also looking to seal off a Week 1 victory over the Detroit Lions. The Eagles took a 38–21 lead to hold on to a 38–35 victory amid two Lions touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts looked solid in Game 1 with a 243-yard pass, rushing for 90 yards and landing on 17 carries. On Monday, the Vikings defense will face a much more mobile quarterback at the Hurts than at the Rodgers, and the Hurts are looking to improve after a so-so first week.

“Today it was not up to my standards. This is not true; I’ll just say it,” Herts said via PhiladelphiaEagles.com.

“There’s always something else,” Herts added. “We are going to go to work; we’re going to work our hardest to keep stepping forward and making progress and growing.”

The Philadelphia defense will need to slow down Jefferson, a more talented receiver than anyone else on the Lions roster. The Eagles turned down passes for 29, 28, 25, and 22 yards to four different receivers in the first week.

Jefferson enters the game on Monday with bulletin board materials when he faces the Eagles.

“Every trial draft made me go to Philadelphia, so when Philly was on the board, I got a call and it was in Minnesota, it was definitely a shock. But I’m definitely happy – much happier – to be here than there,” Jefferson said via Pro Football Talk.

“I’m excited about this. Can’t wait,” Jefferson added.

As for the Eagles, Jalen Raygor wants revenge on the Vikings, the team he once played for. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni loves the enthusiasm.

“Every time we play with the team that I coached, I say, ‘Hey, let’s go.’ I love these guys, but I really want to beat them because it’s just a continuation of the times I went against them in training.” Sirianni told the media. “I think this is a normal reaction for anyone who comes back to play at the old place. I just think it’s ok. Like I said, I go through this too.”
